Sound ~ for Sarah Shivarani
swim underwater and listen
for silence
silence beyond the heart-pulse
in your ears
silence more familiar
than a womb
for all those times it was too
loud, too much
listen for the sound of who
you are
write
write every book
ever written in your head
sing
draw
the old shoe on the back porch
plant bulbs in it, smell the blackish soil
let crimson spill outside the lines
feel
the pastel beneath your nails
wiped off on your best jeans
giggle
when they don’t come clean in the wash
hear
the livening of you heart
the turquoise and canary colours
of the universe within you
So very lovely. Thank you Emily.
Thank you Stephen
